USA Pencak Silat Federation (USF)

The USA Pencak Silat Federation (USF) is a non-profit Pencak Silat association in the USA to represent Silat from the Nusantara community that includes, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei Darusalam, and Singapore. USA Pencak Silat Federation is organized for exclusively charitable, educational and scientific purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. Specifically, the organization will provide educational programs and awareness to the public regarding the fighting art of Silat, as well as provide charitable giving to other non-profit organizations. The UPSF is the formal Associate member of the International Pencak Silat Federation (PERSILAT) representing the USA.

The vision of USF is to popularize and spread the teaching of Silat to Americans and to utilize the teachings to defend themselves, live healthy, support families, and communities. Our mission is to facilitate, promote, and preserve the cultural and sports aspects of Silat through teaching its concepts.

Our hope is that with the development and expansion of the USF, we will create a positive environment for the mutual cooperation of Silat schools across the nation to help preserve, promote and advance the growth of Silat in USA. This will further an exchange of knowledge to give students a broader understanding of Silat. We plan to organize tournaments, conferences and workshops to spread the knowledge of Silat and to use the noble principles of Silat to develop healthier communities and inter-faith and inter-cultural dialog. In addition to this we hope to help fund existing Silat schools by way of grants to be used for advertising, creating and maintaining online presence, demonstrations, etc. in order to further the awareness of Silat to the mainstream.
